Travel Tryouts & Evaluations

Evaluations are a process by which all players are evaluated for team placement based on skill level.  Placement on a travel team requires every player to be evaluated by coaches and board members.  Each player must attend one of the scheduled evaluation days.  This occurs at the end of each Spring season, typically in May/June of each year for the following Fall and Spring seasons.  3rd & 4th grade Players MUST attend travel tryouts to be considered for a travel team.  All other travel age groups, attendance is highly encouraged to ensure proper team placement.

MHYSA will make every effort to announce the placement results by the end of June via email, with the coach of the team to contact players shortly thereafter.  In the event that results are delayed, check the website for additional information on the status of placements.

If a player only wants to participate in the Spring travel sessions they will need to register for "Spring Pre-Reg" during open registation and attend one of the evaluation sessions. This will allow an evaluation and placement for Spring. Pleae indicat this on your registration form or check during the registration process.  Any questions or concerns please contact our Registrar, Shannon Browne

MHYSA Travel Program

The MHYSA Travel program is affiliated with the Boston Area Youth Soccer League (BAYS). Teams are organized by gender, age and skill level. These teams travel to other towns to play in a more competitive game situation.

Travel Teams play a 10 game season, 5 games are played home and 5 away. Games are held each Saturday, with start times for these games typically between 9:00am and 4:00pm. Home games are played at fields in Milford or Hopedale.  Note: Makeup games can be scheduled weekdays/weekends at varying times.

Typically there are one or two practices per week (usually weeknights) depending on the age group.  Please note however, that practices are held at the discretion of the volunteer coach based on his/her availability/work schedule, etc.

MHYSA tryouts are more appropriately called placements, as all children in the U11/U12/U13/U14 programs that both register by the deadline and tryout are placed on a travel team. Children that do not meet both of these criteria will be placed on the waiting list and given a roster spot should one become available.  Children in the U10 program that both register by the deadline and tryout are either placed on a travel team or an in-town team, depending on the results of the tryout.

MHYSA will make every effort to announce the placement results by the end of June via email, with the coach of the team to contact players shortly thereafter.  In the event that results are delayed, check the website for additional information on the status of placements.

If players only want to participate in the Spring 2017 season and not the Fall 2016 season, that player should register now (choose Spring 2017 Pre-Registration) and plan to participate in the Travel Tryout sessions. There is no cost to do this.  This will allow an evaluation and placement for Spring 2017.  That child will also be required to register, as normal, for Spring 2017 when that registration system is up and running in November 2016.  Any questions regarding choosing this option should be sent to our Registrar, Shannon Browne([email protected]).

Questions regarding the travel program should be sent to [email protected]. And questions regarding the in-town Under-6 through Under-10 programs should be sent to [email protected]

Look forward to seeing you all on the field!!
