In-Town Program

Intown Changes Fall 2018

There will be changes  coming to our in-town program due to new mandates by Mass Youth Soccer, which is our governing body.

-Mass Youth Soccer wants all programs to be grade based therefore, starting this season we will split 1st and 2nd grade. 1st grade will play against each other, 2nd grade will play in a different league against each other. We will continue to separate by gender starting in 1st grade.

-By fall 2019, all grades 2nd and below must play a 4v4 format without the use of goalies. In order to make this transition as smooth as possible, are will implement some changes for fall 2018 and some by 2019.

-There will be no changes to the Kindergarten/Pre-K program( formerly U6)

-1st Grade will begin playing in the 4v4 format without Goalies. There will be some rule changes for restarts, field size, goal size. 1st grade will continue to use a size 3 soccer ball. The weekly schedule will remain with one practice during the week and one game on Saturday.

-There will be no changes to our current second graders for this year. 2nd Grade will continue to play 6v6 for this fall and spring 2019. However the 2nd graders will play 4v4 in Fall of 2019.

Kindergarten/Pre-K (formerly U6)

The game format is very small field, using small nets.  The games are played with each team fielding 3 or 4 players along with their coaches.  No Goalies are used.  Coaches are encouraged to move players in and out of the game often.  Coaches are also encouraged to keep the game flowing, minimizing stoppages.  The idea is to have the players get as many touches on the ball as possible while on the field of play.
